Though not originally from the lake area, Ben is a Georgia native. Ben was born in Waycross. Graduating from Warner Robins’ Northside High School in 1995. Ben went to Macon State for a year and half for architectural engineering and decided it wasn’t for him. Over the next couple years, he worked several different jobs. Later, he was asked to work for Metro Power on Warner Robbins Air Force Base, where he was offered an apprenticeship program at Central Georgia Technical College; after four years he earned his journeyman electrician license and an associate’s degree. He worked for Metro Power for about eight years before being asked to take over the electrical portion of Reynolds Plantation’s Lake Club Condos. Ben developed and maintained the Metro Power branch here at Lake Oconee for 10 years before leaving to pursue a new opportunity at Progressive Communication. At Progressive, he traveled the continental U.S. for radio frequency identification (RFID) tracking on air force bases across the country.
When business slowed down and Ben was laid off, he decided to it was now or never to take a chance to start a business of his own. So, that was the beginning of A&B Electric Co. and Services, LLC. The name stems from Ben’s desire to honor his father: The “A” in “A&B” stands for Alton, and the “B” referencing himself.
With Ben’s knowledge and experience-along with his dad’s guidance-the company has thrived since starting out on his own. The company is constantly growing and expanding and for that, we are so very thankful and blessed.
Ben and his wife, Sheena started dating in 2014, married in 2020 and have 3 boys together. Their boys attend Gatewood School. The enjoy riding the Side by side, going to the beach, and going to Biloxi. The boys enjoy experiencing different arcades, aquariums and beaches all over. The oldest loves to golf and play football for Gatewood. The middle and youngest love to play baseball. Sometimes life gets hectic, but they manage to carve out family time.
